Vivo held a roadshow for its latest flagship smartphone vivo NEX 3 at the Bedok Mall last Saturday, with a special guest appearance by Mediacorp artiste, Elvin Ng.
NEX 3 features a beautiful waterfall display, which means its screen overflows from both sides of the device. On the topic of the screen, you will realise that there’s one thing that’s missing and that’s the front-facing camera.
No, vivo did not remove it. Instead, they hid it at the top of the device. You can activate it by going into selfie mode and the 16 MP camera will rise up to the occasion. At its back is a triple-camera setup where you can toggle the different camera modes – wide-angle (13MP f2.2), standard (64MP f1.8) and telephoto (13MP f2.5). NEX 3 has a two-time optical zoom but anything more than that is digital. This means that your photograph will start to get noisy.
Diving deeper into its specs, vivo NEX 3 has 256GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM. It runs of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus, which we were told that its three times more efficient than 855.
To secure your device, there are two and a half options for you to choose from – on-screen fingerprint access, passcode and assistant face unlock. The assistant face unlock makes up the half because it will be activated only when you failed to unlock your device using fingerprint unlock in three attempts.
Now on to battery life, which could be the reason for its weight. It’s not heavy per se but you can definitely feel its weight. NEX 3 has a 4,500 mAh battery. It also supports quick charge so you don’t have to wait for long before its all juiced up.
One more thing. vivo NEX 3 is 5G-ready. So when the switch for 5G is turned on in Singapore hopefully by next year, this device is ready to give you the connection speed that some of your peers will be lacking.
vivo NEX 3 is now available at all major telcos at S$1,299 retail price.
We’ll do a review of the device and will share more in the next few weeks.
