Commvault Extends Flex Ecosystem to Hitachi Vantara and NetApp

Construction sector lacks the digital capability for a smart city: Finalcad

Commvault has expanded its Commvault Flex partner ecosystem to include Hitachi Vantara and NetApp, extending its enterprise data protection and cyber recovery architecture to two of the storage industry’s larger players. The expansion targets organisations running very large, dynamic datasets in hybrid and multi-cloud environments.

What Commvault Flex does

Formerly known as HyperScale Flex, Commvault Flex is a purpose-built data protection and resilience platform with a flexible architecture that connects to external high-performance flash storage pools. It is designed to allow enterprises to scale performance and capacity independently of traditional compute and storage constraints, addressing a key pain point as AI workloads drive up data volumes and recovery time requirements.

Demand for AI-ready data centre capacity is projected to grow at an average of 33% annually as more organisations deploy AI for mission-critical applications. Commvault positions the Flex expansion as a direct response to that pressure, enabling multi-petabyte throughput while supporting stringent service level agreements.

Hitachi Vantara and NetApp join existing ecosystem

The two new integrations join an existing Commvault Flex ecosystem that includes Everpure, HPE, and VAST Data. Commvault Flex is delivered as a software image installed on validated server hardware and connected to the storage hardware of each partner, meaning enterprises can maintain their existing storage vendor relationships while adopting the Commvault resilience layer.

“Many organizations require solutions that provide uninterrupted access to data systems, address capacity requirements of large AI datasets, and meet performance requirements for resilience and recovery. Commvault Flex, in tandem with Hitachi Vantara, NetApp, and other partners, enables customers to scale their flash storage solutions to meet demands for multiple petabyte throughput.” — Pranay Ahlawat, Chief Technology and AI Officer, Commvault

NetApp framed the integration around its AI-driven ransomware detection capabilities, while Hitachi Vantara highlighted its VSP One data platform as the vehicle for bringing enterprise-grade storage performance into Commvault Flex environments.

Availability

The Commvault Flex integration with both Hitachi Vantara and NetApp is targeted for general availability this summer. Pricing is configured based on specific server and storage options selected for each deployment.
