NetApp strengthens ransomware defences with two new partnerships

BlackBerry Cylance predicts 4 cybersecurity trends for 2020

NetApp has announced two new partnerships aimed at bolstering enterprise ransomware resilience, as organisations look to harden their cyber defences in AI-driven environments.

Alliance with Commvault for data protection

NetApp has formed a strategic alliance with Commvault to deliver an integrated enterprise data protection solution. The combined offering is designed to provide resilience, security, and rapid recovery across both on-premises and cloud environments, with a focus on ensuring data remains available, immutable, and recoverable.

Partnership with Elastio for ransomware detection

In a separate announcement, NetApp is expanding its ransomware resilience capabilities through a partnership with Elastio. Elastio’s Provable Recovery Control technology will be embedded into NetApp’s Ransomware Resilience Service as a “Powered by Elastio” capability. This adds Deep File Inspection of snapshots to detect zero-day ransomware, staged malware, and stealth corruption that may have bypassed perimeter controls.

Layered approach to cyber resilience

Together, the two partnerships reflect NetApp’s strategy of addressing cyber resilience across the full data lifecycle — from early ransomware detection on primary storage through to clean, verified recovery using trusted snapshots and backups across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
