The Myanmar Electronic Gaming Association (MEGA) has unveiled plans to build the country’s first International Esports Hub in Yangon, aiming to establish the city as a regional destination for competitive gaming, food, and entertainment.

The project will roll out in two phases, with the Esports Experience Center set to open in January 2026, followed by the larger International Esports Hub in late 2026.

Yangon’s Largest Esports Experience Centre

Spanning 1,200 square metres, the Experience Centre will be the largest facility of its kind in Myanmar. It will feature a retail showcase for esports equipment, a LAN gaming zone, a café, professional training rooms, livestreaming studios, and a flexible events space.

The venue will host several regional events in 2026, including the Asia Esports Summit, Asia Esports Festival and Asia Esports Festival Online. In addition, the SLV Symposium will bring audio, lighting and visual technology showcases, training programmes and equipment sales to support Myanmar’s growing esports and digital sector.

The Experience Centre is backed by Greenwillow Creative Ventures and Esports Entertainment Asia.

International Esports Hub by Late 2026

The second phase of the project will see the launch of a 10-acre integrated hub that combines esports, entertainment, education and lifestyle. Planned facilities include an esports hotel, an international co-working space, a 3,000–4,000 seat event hall, an 8,000-capacity outdoor venue, and a new media production lab.

An international food street, retail outlets and a sports and recreation centre will also be part of the development, along with expanded esports training facilities for professional teams.

The Myanmar Electronic Gaming Association said the hub will help nurture local talent in areas such as streaming, casting and technical roles, while deepening ties with international partners.

Kyaw Moe Tun, chairman of MEGA, said the project marks a turning point for the country’s esports ambitions. “The International Esports Hub will be a catalyst for innovation, talent development, and international collaboration,” he said.

Nicholas Tan, director of Peak Creative Ventures, added that the partnership seeks to “leverage advanced technology, foster sustainable growth, and set exemplary standards within the global esports sector”.

Greenwillow Group executive director Theodore Chuang noted the hub’s cultural impact: “The future International Esports Hub will not only create a new space, but will also become a carrier of diverse community culture and enhance Yangon’s status as an esports hub.”

With its phased development, the International Esports Hub is positioned to consolidate Yangon’s role as a preferred venue for global esports events. The association said it also expects the hub to serve as a lifestyle destination for both domestic and international visitors.
