Telco M1 has unveiled a revamped daily roaming offering aimed squarely at Singaporeans making short overseas trips, promising flexible, low-cost mobile connectivity without the need to commit to large data bundles.
Dubbed the M1 Daily Passport, the service stands out in a crowded market by charging users only on days they activate roaming—an approach the company claims is unique among local telcos. The model is pitched at travellers who want data access without the overhead of multi-day packages, particularly for brief regional getaways.
Customers can access 3GB of roaming data per day, with rates starting from S$2.95 to S$7.95, depending on the destination. M1 positions this as the highest daily roaming data allowance currently available in Singapore, calling it one of the best-value solutions on the market.
Unlike traditional roaming packages that require upfront purchases or multi-day commitments, Daily Passport is activated only when users switch on data roaming, charging them for a 24-hour period of usage. This pay-as-you-go model aims to offer both flexibility and cost-efficiency.
The service covers 74 destinations, including travel hotspots such as Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Australia. A recurring activation fee of S$4.95 per billing cycle applies only when there is roaming usage during the month.
For those planning extended trips or needing more data, M1 is also highlighting its Maxx SIM-Only Plan, which offers up to 290GB of local data and 12GB of roaming data across select destinations. Promotional pricing starts at S$7.90 per month for the first 12 billing cycles, rising to S$9.90 thereafter.
The refreshed roaming plans come as regional travel continues to grow, especially among travellers seeking weekend escapes or short vacations, where daily data packs offer more precise control over costs.
