Jobs on Demand (Jod), Singapore’s first multi-industry, flexible on-demand gig work platform, has announced key leadership appointments as it prepares for expansion across Southeast Asia. These strategic moves are designed to bolster Jod’s efforts in offering scalable staffing solutions through the gig economy, meeting evolving industry needs, and reinforcing its presence in the region.
Sebastian San Takes Helm as CEO
Effective 1 September 2024, Sebastian San, previously Singapore Country Manager, has stepped into the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO). San, who played a pivotal role in launching Jod as a mobile-first platform in 2023, is credited with simplifying workforce management for employers and enhancing the experience for gig workers. Under his leadership, Jod introduced JodRewards, a program designed to offer gig workers benefits traditionally enjoyed by full-time employees, such as insurance, paid break time, and annual leave.
In his new role, San is focused on driving the company’s strategic growth across both mature and developing markets, including Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam. He aims to build on Jod’s current success by forging high-impact partnerships with governments and businesses across Southeast Asia. “As the employment landscape shifts, workers are increasingly seeking hybrid models that combine gig roles with traditional employment. It is important that we provide these workers with the benefits and protections they need to enhance their financial well-being and job satisfaction,” said San.
Chesca Figueroa Appointed Country Manager for Singapore and the Philippines
Simultaneously, Chesca Figueroa, previously Head of Special Projects, has been appointed as Country Manager for both Singapore and the Philippines. Figueroa brings a wealth of experience in tech-driven HR solutions and has been instrumental in advancing accessibility to insurance and technology that supports the gig economy. Her appointment reflects Jod’s ambition to scale operations and deepen its influence in both markets.
“I am thrilled to take on this new challenge at a time when calls for greater protection and rights for gig workers are stronger than ever,” said Figueroa. She plans to expand Jod’s footprint in the Philippines while continuing to enhance its impact in Singapore.

Poised for Growth and Innovation
With the combined leadership of San and Figueroa, Jod is set to embark on an ambitious growth trajectory. Their shared vision emphasizes empowering gig workers through innovative technologies and comprehensive employment benefits, positioning Jod as a trusted advocate within the gig economy. The company aims to leverage its experience and success in Singapore as a model for expanding into new high-growth markets across Southeast Asia.
Jod has already achieved significant milestones since its founding in 2015. With over S$8.5 million in earnings disbursed, more than 80,000 users onboarded, and 500 client partners engaged, the company is well-positioned to lead the future of gig work in the region. In August, Jod released its first whitepaper, Empowering Flexibility: A Deep Dive into Singapore’s Gig Work Landscape, highlighting the increasing demand for flexible work arrangements.
