LG Electronics is set to make waves in the laptop industry with the unveiling of its latest LG gram 16 Pro, the first model to feature the Intel® Core™ Ultra processor (Series 2). This new device will be showcased at the Intel Core Ultra Global Launch Event from 3 to 8 September 2024, ahead of its official release later this year. Known for its lightweight design and high performance, the LG gram series has now incorporated cutting-edge AI capabilities to redefine user productivity and experience.
AI-Driven Performance Boost
At the core of the LG gram 16 Pro’s innovation is the Intel® Core™ Ultra processor, which is three times more powerful than its predecessor. This next-generation processor includes up to 48 neural processing unit (NPU) tera operations per second (TOPS), enhancing the laptop’s AI performance significantly. As the first AI-enabled laptop in the LG gram series, it is optimized for Windows PCs and offers advanced AI features, including productivity assistants, image and text creation, and collaboration tools.
Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel’s executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group, highlighted the collaboration between LG and Intel: “Together with LG, we are bringing to market the next generation of AI PCs that offer incredible performance, power efficiency, and security capabilities for consumers.”
Pushing the Boundaries of On-Device AI
The LG gram 16 Pro exemplifies the company’s commitment to integrating powerful AI functionalities while maintaining its signature ultra-lightweight design. According to YS Lee, Vice President and Head of the IT Business Unit of LG Business Solutions Company, “The enhanced performance and productivity offered by the latest Intel® Core™ Ultra processor is poised to enrich the LG gram user experience with AI, ushering in a new era of on-device AI laptops.”
With the ability to handle up to 120 total platform TOPS, including 67 GPU TOPS, the LG gram 16 Pro enables users to tackle demanding tasks seamlessly. The inclusion of advanced AI capabilities and extended battery life ensures that users can work efficiently without interruption.
LG’s foray into AI-driven laptops marks a significant shift in the industry, with more models expected to follow. The company’s AI vision, “Affectionate Intelligence,” aims to understand and respond to customer needs, delivering enhanced experiences beyond traditional AI applications.
