Google has announced the official launch of its first e-commerce store in Southeast Asia in Singapore today. That means Google fans or consumers can easily purchase Google products online locally, which was previously unavailable. The products that are on sale on the local Google Store are the highly rated smart gadgets such as the Google Home, Google Home Mini, Google Wifi, Google Pixel 2 XL, Google Pixel Buds and Chromecast.
The availability of Google Home products also means that the services that come with it are suited for local queries like the Google Pixel 2 XL. Just by saying, “Ok Google” followed by your question, the voice-activated speaker powered by the Google Assistant will come back to you with the information you require. You can also ask it to help you with things like setting the alarm, setting a reminder, language translation, turning on your fan, playing music or playing Netflix shows on your TV. It can even detect your misplaced smartphone at home.
Mickey Kim, Google’s Director for APAC Hardware Product Planning and Partnerships, said:
“…With Google Home and Mini, we want to help busy Singaporeans tap into the power of the Google Assistant by providing answers and hands-free help in their daily lives. The newly launch Google Store is part of our commitment to bring our hardware to more Singaporeans following the positive response we’ve seen so far.”
To cater more services and possibilities to what the Google Assistant on Google Home can do for Singaporeans, Google partnered with many major media outlets such as Channel News Asia, The Straits Times, MONEY FM 89.3, The Business Times and others to bring you the latest news via the Google Home.
The tech giant is also in an exclusive partnership with StarHub for Google Home in Singapore. StarHub customers can bring home a Google Home and Google Home Mini for as low as $0. The catch is that you need to sign up for the telco’s new hubbing plan called HomeHub Plus. If you top up an additional $120, you can upgrade your Home Mini for its larger sibling, Google Home.
Justin Ang, Head of Product, StarHub said:
“As the hub in smart homes, Google Home integrates our customers’ smart devices and gives them hands-free control over their lights, home appliances, schedules and StarHub accounts.“
Exclusive deal on Google Store
Exclusive to the Google Store, you can purchase the Mini in Coral and enjoy special promotions including a free Mini when you buy the Google Pixel 2 XL at S$1,398. Also, delivery is free if you purchase more than S$40, which shouldn’t be too hard.
Availability in stores
Starting 20 April, the Google Home and Google Home Mini will be available at StarHub, COURTS and Challenger and online via Hachi.tech. The Google Home is priced at S$189 and the Google Mini at S$79.
