DeepL Secures $300 Million Investment at $2 Billion Valuation

Singapore – DeepL, a prominent Language AI company, announced a $300 million investment, elevating its valuation to $2 billion. The funding round, led by Index Ventures, saw strong interest from new investors bringing extensive expertise and resources to support DeepL’s growth and global vision. The round also included contributions from ICONIQ Growth, Teachers’ Venture Growth, and existing investors such as IVP, Atomico, and WiL.

“We’re at an inflection point in the AI boom where businesses are discerning between hype and solutions that are secure and solve real problems,” said Jarek Kutylowski, founder and CEO of DeepL. “This investment comes during DeepL’s most transformative year yet and underscores our Language AI platform’s crucial role in solving complex linguistic challenges faced by global companies.”

DeepL has experienced significant growth, with a customer base of over 100,000 businesses and organizations, including Zendesk, Nikkei, Coursera, and Deutsche Bahn. The company’s enterprise Language AI platform is noted for its accuracy and security, facilitating seamless communication and driving international growth and cost savings. In response to increasing demand, DeepL has expanded its operations, including opening its first U.S. office in January 2024.

In April 2024, DeepL launched DeepL Write Pro, a writing assistant powered by its proprietary LLM technology, further broadening its product offerings for businesses. The platform now supports 32 languages, with recent additions including Arabic, Korean, and Norwegian.

“DeepL’s success is well-known in the business community,” said Danny Rimer of Index Ventures. “The company’s AI products deliver real value, and their focus on both research and commercial application is key to their success.”

As global demand for AI solutions grows, DeepL is poised to transform the $67.9 billion language industry, projected to reach $95.3 billion by 2028. A 2024 Forrester study highlighted DeepL’s impact, revealing a 345% ROI for users, reducing translation time by 90%, and cutting workload by 50%.

“At Zendesk, we see the power of AI tools in customer experience, and DeepL’s translation is exemplary,” said Adrian McDermott, CTO of Zendesk. “Accurate AI translation enables companies to scale globally and reach new markets effectively.”

DeepL plans to continue investing in research, product innovation, and global market expansion, strengthening its position as a leader in AI communication tools for businesses.
