Philippine lender BDO Unibank has upgraded its payments infrastructure with Finastra’s Global PAYplus platform, aiming to handle higher transaction volumes and connect to new payment networks.
BDO uses the platform for Swift and inbound PESONet processing and is the largest commercial bank in the Philippines running Global PAYplus, Finastra said. The bank said the move strengthens resilience and interoperability across its payments operations.
Finastra said Global PAYplus gives BDO more automation and flexible, rule-based payment processing, with room to support standards such as ISO 20022 and to connect to new domestic and cross-border networks as they emerge.
High-value and mass payments on one platform
BDO serves retail, commercial and institutional clients, and also supports correspondent banking and fintech partners with payment distribution into the Philippine market. Finastra said the deployment gives the bank a scalable base for current and future payment needs, with high-value and mass payments handled together.
“By enhancing our payments architecture with Finastra’s Global PAYplus, we have strengthened our ability to support growing transaction volumes,” said Carlo B. Nazareno, head of Cash Management Services at BDO.
Radha Suvarna, Chief Product Officer of Payments at Finastra, said banks face growing pressure to deliver payments that are immediate, reliable and tailored to different customer needs. She said bringing high-value and mass payments together is reducing complexity for BDO, and that the partnership shows the solution can support banks with complex requirements, including multiple clearing systems and more demanding corporate clients.
