Cloudera and Mistral have announced a partnership to bring secure, sovereign AI directly to enterprise data, combining Cloudera’s hybrid data and AI platform with Mistral’s models across cloud, on-premises, edge and air-gapped environments.

The collaboration lets organisations run inference privately, customise models using their own proprietary data through Mistral Forge, and deploy AI applications within existing security and governance boundaries, rather than sending sensitive data to external services. Mistral’s models will be integrated with Cloudera’s platform, which the companies say spans 30 exabytes of customer data across public, private, on-premises and fully air-gapped deployments.

Aimed at regulated industries and data residency rules

The partnership spans Mistral’s model portfolio across reasoning, chat, coding, document intelligence and voice, giving Cloudera customers more choice in how they apply AI to enterprise data. Through Mistral Forge, organisations will also be able to train models on large volumes of private data within controlled environments, aimed at highly regulated sectors managing sensitive or proprietary information.

The companies also plan to collaborate on bringing AI inference closer to where enterprise data is generated, aimed at disconnected and latency-sensitive environments where centralised cloud infrastructure is impractical. Joint solutions will be available through Cloudera’s enterprise sales team and partner ecosystem, with further integrations rolling out over time.
