TikTok Shop has committed to training at least 1,000 local sellers by the end of 2027 and more than 3,000 creators by the end of 2026, as it deepens its investment in Singapore’s discovery commerce ecosystem.
The commitment was announced at the inaugural TikTok Shop Singapore Summit 2026, a full-day hybrid event that brought together more than 1,500 sellers, creators and ecosystem partners. Mr Alvin Tan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and National Development, attended as guest of honour and delivered the opening address.
Platform growth outpaces the wider e-commerce market
The capability-building push comes alongside strong platform growth, with TikTok Shop Singapore recording 1.7 times year-on-year growth in gross merchandise value and 1.6 times year-on-year growth in monthly buyers over the past year. Singapore’s wider e-commerce market is projected to grow from US$5.57 billion in 2025 to US$10.33 billion by 2031.
The new programmes are designed to support businesses and creators at every stage of growth, spanning LIVE selling, affiliate marketing and short-form content creation. Leon Koh, Fashion Cluster Lead and Head of Seller Management at TikTok Shop Singapore, shared insights at the summit into how discovery commerce is reshaping how businesses connect with consumers.
Government backs skills push for social commerce
“I thank you, and I welcome TikTok Shop’s commitment to train and upskill over 1,000 local businesses and SMEs through your Growth Accelerator Programme and your GO LIVE Academy, alongside supporting more than 3,000 creators by the end of this year in affiliate commerce, live stream selling, and content creation,” Mr Tan said in his speech at the summit.
Mr Tan also pointed to institutional partnerships as part of the push, citing collaboration between the Singapore Retailers Association, SkillsFuture Singapore and TikTok Shop to deliver social commerce solutions, tailored training and supporting infrastructure for the retail sector.
Eligible TikTok Shop sellers can register for the GO LIVE Academy and the Growth Accelerator Programme, which together aim to build stronger foundations for businesses at different stages of growth on the platform.
