Siemens has been named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Software in Discrete Manufacturing Industries, with the company’s Teamcenter platform cited for its AI-embedded capabilities and comprehensive digital thread for manufacturing.
The recognition follows Gartner’s designation of Siemens as the “Company to Beat in Manufacturing AI” in April 2026 — a back-to-back acknowledgement that positions the company at the forefront of industrial software at a time when AI is reshaping product design, engineering and production cycles.
AI at the Core of PLM
Central to the recognition is Teamcenter, Siemens’ flagship PLM platform and part of the broader Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. The software embeds AI directly into the product lifecycle workflow, giving users access to generative AI-powered assistance through Teamcenter Copilot without requiring separate integrations.
Siemens says the platform’s design — built on a secure, connected digital thread — allows AI capabilities to scale across organisations of all sizes, including through Teamcenter X, a cloud SaaS delivery option aimed at companies that require enterprise-grade PLM without the overhead of on-premises deployment.
“As AI reshapes how products are designed, built and operated, we remain focused on delivering PLM solutions that scale securely and connect data, people and processes end to end.” — Frances Evans, Senior Vice President, Lifecycle Collaboration Software, Siemens Digital Industries Software
Beyond AI: BOM and Cloud Investments
Siemens also attributes the Gartner recognition to investments in bill of material (BOM) enhancements that strengthen the digital thread connecting design, engineering and manufacturing data. These capabilities are increasingly critical as manufacturers manage more complex supply chains and accelerate time-to-market for new products.
Gartner describes Leaders in the Magic Quadrant as vendors that “execute well against their current vision and are well positioned for tomorrow” — a qualifier that reflects both current product strength and future roadmap credibility.
