iProov Launches Real-Time Deepfake Detection for Enterprise Video Calls

iProov, the biometric identity verification provider trusted by GovTech Singapore, the US Department of Homeland Security, and UBS, has announced iProov Verified Meetings — a solution that enables organisations to authenticate the identity of video call participants in real time, without disrupting the flow of the meeting.

The Video Call as an Attack Surface

As video conferencing has become the standard medium for business meetings, remote hiring, customer onboarding, and financial approvals, it has also become a primary entry point for AI-generated deepfake fraud. Two high-profile incidents illustrate the scale of the risk: engineering firm Arup lost US$25 million through a deepfake video call, while North Korea-linked operatives have infiltrated hundreds of organisations using synthetic media in remote interviews.

Easily accessible generative AI tools now enable attackers to create convincing deepfakes undetectable by the human eye, often paired with virtual camera environments to deceive both participants and conferencing platforms.

“Organisations still largely assume that seeing a person on screen means they’re real. That assumption no longer holds,” said Andrew Bud, founder and CEO of iProov. “Deepfakes are now easy to create and very difficult to detect, making deception in video interactions both scalable and hard to stop.”

How Verified Meetings Works

Delivered as a native plugin for video conferencing platforms, iProov Verified Meetings analyses the live video stream when triggered by the meeting host across two dimensions: imagery analysis to detect deepfakes and presentation attacks, and hardware integrity verification to confirm the video originates from a physical camera rather than a virtual environment.

The check runs silently in the background, invisible to the participant being checked. Results appear directly in the host’s interface as a Red, Amber, or Green status for immediate decision-making, preventing attackers from being alerted and ensuring accessibility for all users. The solution provides continuous protection through multi-layered detection that updates in real time as new attack methods emerge.

Backed by iSOC

iProov Verified Meetings is supported by the iProov Security Operations Centre, a dedicated team of biometric scientists, threat intelligence experts, and red teamers who continuously monitor emerging attack methods and update detection capabilities in real time. The solution is part of iProov’s Workforce Solutions Suite and supports the Workforce “Pre-Join” journey, covering the authentication gap that exists before participants enter a meeting.

iProov’s technology is trusted by GovTech Singapore, the UK Home Office, ING, and UBS, among others.
