Google and Singapore’s Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI) have signed a new National AI Partnership, expanding a collaboration that dates to a 2022 public-private MOU and extending it across healthcare, education, enterprise, and AI governance.
The MOU was signed by Ben King, Managing Director of Google Singapore, and Chng Kai Fong, Permanent Secretary (Digital Development and Information), in the presence of Minister Josephine Teo and Karan Bhatia, Google’s Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy.
Health and life sciences
Google DeepMind will collaborate with Singapore’s public health clusters as part of its global AI co-clinician research initiative, exploring how AI can support doctors with higher-quality care. Google DeepMind and the National Research Foundation (NRF) will train local researchers on agentic AI tools including Co-Scientist for biomedical research. A*STAR will additionally gain access to AI-enabled tools on Google Cloud for scientific hypothesis generation.
On the inclusion front, Google DeepMind is developing a Gemma-powered running assistant for blind and low-vision athletes in partnership with SG Enable.
Education and workforce
The Ministry of Education (MOE) and Google are expanding their existing collaboration, with Google Workspace for Education AI capabilities already enabled across primary schools to junior colleges. MOE will evaluate broader application of these tools for teaching, learning, and educator upskilling. Google will also continue its Majulah AI initiative, which includes the Skills Ignition SG programme with IMDA, an AI First accelerator for startups, and Gemini Academy for the general public.
Enterprise and AI governance
Google Cloud’s expanded team of Forward-Deployed Engineers will support agentic enterprise transformation for Singapore-based companies. The partnership builds on existing collaborations with AI Singapore, GovTech, HTX, and the National University of Singapore.
On governance, Google worked with CSA, GovTech, and IMDA through a joint AI Agents Sandbox to produce a shared whitepaper on how AI agents can be safely deployed in the real world.
