Tencent Cloud Powers Ryt Bank’s AI-Driven Banking Push in Malaysia

Tencent Cloud has partnered with Ryt Bank, Malaysia’s AI-powered digital bank, to underpin its conversational banking platform with enterprise-grade cloud messaging infrastructure.

The partnership, announced on 11 May, sees Ryt Bank deploy Tencent Cloud Chat (IM) as the real-time communication backbone for its flagship product, Ryt AI — a conversational interface that allows users to execute transactions through natural language commands. The goal is a “Zero User Interface” model, where a traditional multi-step banking process is reduced to a single sentence, such as “Send RM100 to Amelia.”

Performance at Launch and Beyond

The infrastructure was put to the test immediately. On Ryt Bank’s launch day, Tencent Cloud Chat (IM) supported the platform through a traffic surge from 50,000 concurrent active users with zero downtime. The bank has since grown to more than 1.2 million users in just over seven months since launch.

Nearly half of Ryt Bank’s customers actively engage with Ryt AI. The product was developed in partnership with YTL AI Labs and is built on ILMU, Malaysia’s sovereign AI model.

Tencent Cloud Chat (IM) is built on the same messaging infrastructure that underpins the broader Tencent ecosystem, which processes more than 550 billion messages per day at peak and serves over one billion monthly active users globally.

Security and Regional Infrastructure

Security compliance is central to the deployment. Tencent Cloud Chat (IM) provides end-to-end encryption and complete message auditing for full transaction traceability — a requirement for licensed banking operations. The platform also supports multi-language capability in Malay, English, and Chinese, enabling Ryt Bank to serve Malaysia’s diverse population.

Tencent Cloud’s global network spans more than 3,200 acceleration edge nodes, with localised infrastructure to support low-latency performance in the region.

Southeast Asia is a key hub for digital innovation, and we are proud to support ambitious pioneers like Ryt Bank in creating a future-forward banking experience. This collaboration highlights our commitment to empower local businesses in Malaysia and across the region to build the next generation of services.

— Kenneth Siow, Regional Director for Southeast Asia and General Manager for Singapore & Malaysia, Tencent Cloud International

Tencent Cloud has been a strategic partner in achieving this goal. The Tencent Cloud Chat (IM) feature was straightforward to integrate, providing the stable, low-latency communication required to handle high-concurrency transactions smoothly, which is fundamental to our growth and our ability to strengthen customer trust.

— Wilson Soon, Interim CEO, Ryt Bank

Tencent Cloud currently operates across more than 80 countries and regions. The company said it will continue to introduce its core technologies to overseas markets as part of its international expansion strategy.
