Blaize and Winmate have signed a strategic partnership agreement to integrate AI into rugged computing systems used in defence, border security, maritime operations, and critical infrastructure — with the two companies intending to close approximately US$15 million in business during the first year.
The deal combines Blaize’s energy-efficient, industrial-grade AI chips with Winmate’s purpose-built rugged platforms, including drones, handheld devices, vehicle-mounted units, and embedded edge systems designed to operate in extreme environments. The initial term runs three years with automatic renewal, and the companies describe it as the foundation for a larger multi-year relationship.
Closing the Cloud Gap at the Edge
The partnership is designed to address a specific operational problem: most AI inference today runs in centralised data centres, making it impractical for field deployments where connectivity is limited, latency is critical, or data cannot traverse public networks. By running AI directly on the device, the joint solution targets use cases where cloud dependency is not viable — soldiers at remote posts, coast guard crews at sea, medics in field clinics, and operators monitoring critical infrastructure.
Our customers can’t wait, and they often can’t rely on the cloud. They need AI that runs where the work happens. Winmate makes some of the most capable rugged systems in the industry, and our chips are designed to run AI inside exactly those kinds of devices.
— Dinakar Munagala, CEO, Blaize
Growing Market for On-Device AI
According to BCC Research, the global edge AI market is projected to grow from US$11.8 billion in 2025 to US$56.8 billion by 2030, representing a compound annual growth rate of 36.9 per cent. Defence agencies, governments, hospitals, ports, and critical infrastructure operators are among the primary drivers of demand for on-device AI that can operate securely without sending data over public networks.
Our platforms are deployed on naval vessels, in border outposts, on industrial sites, and in disaster zones — environments where most hardware fails. With Blaize, we can now deliver those same systems with on-device AI built in, giving customers real-time intelligence wherever they operate.
— Ken Lu, Chairman and CEO, Winmate
Blaize (Nasdaq: BZAI) is headquartered in El Dorado Hills, California. Winmate is a publicly traded company in Taiwan. The first-year revenue figure of approximately US$15 million represents the parties’ intent and is subject to good-faith negotiation.
