Canon has announced its foray into the laser rangefinder market with the launch of the PowerShot GOLF, a cutting-edge golf rangefinder that also captures videos and images on the green. This new device aims to enhance the golfing experience with its dual functionality and user-friendly design.
David Yeo, Senior Marketing Manager of Consumer Business at Canon Singapore, highlighted the innovation behind the product. “At Canon, we are continuously striving to create innovative products to fulfill the needs of various users. Designed with golfers in mind, the PowerShot GOLF combines a rangefinder with the ability to take photos and videos. As a compact, water-resistant unit that can be operated with one hand, the PowerShot GOLF will be a useful tool for those looking to enrich their golfing experience,” he said.
The PowerShot GOLF offers advanced features commonly found in top-tier rangefinders, with the added benefit of photo and video recording capabilities. Golfers can capture images or videos with superimposed yardage data, providing valuable insights for evaluating and improving their techniques.

One of the standout features is the slope mode, which measures and displays slope-adjusted distances, aiding golfers in selecting the appropriate club when faced with elevation changes. The pin-locking function ensures precise targeting by focusing on the closest subject, even in the presence of multiple targets. The continuous range finding function, activated by half-pressing the measurement button, further enhances accuracy by keeping the laser active.
The device’s high-quality 2.36 million-dot OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF) offers a clear and detailed view of distant targets, complete with an information overlay and a 60-fps refresh rate. This supports careful surveying of faraway target areas before hitting the ball. With a field of view equivalent to 410mm on a full-frame camera, extendable to 820mm with 2x digital zoom, and optical image stabilization, the PowerShot GOLF ensures steady and accurate targeting.
Designed for convenience, the PowerShot GOLF is compact, lightweight, and ergonomic, featuring well-placed buttons for quick, one-handed operation on the field. Its IPX4 water resistance rating makes it suitable for use in light rain, while the USB-C charging port and MicroSD memory card slot enhance its practicality for data transfer and power management.
Details on the pricing and availability of the PowerShot GOLF will be announced at a later date.
