Signify and SmartThings Enhance Home Entertainment with Advanced Surround Lighting Integration

Signify, the world leader in lighting technology and formerly known as Philips Lighting, alongside SmartThings, Samsung’s comprehensive connected living platform, have announced an expansion of their partnership to enhance the home entertainment experience. This collaboration introduces a more seamless integration between Samsung TVs and Philips Hue lighting systems.

Starting April 2024, the Philips Hue Sync TV app will be available in Singapore, allowing users to sync their Philips Hue lights with their Samsung TV for an immersive viewing experience. The app will be accessible via a monthly subscription or a one-time payment, providing flexibility for users across different needs.

The integration with the SmartThings ecosystem makes controlling the Philips Hue Sync TV app simpler through the SmartThings mobile app. This allows for effortless management of lighting effects without interrupting TV viewing. Users can automate their lighting with other SmartThings-compatible devices to create the perfect movie night ambiance with just a touch of a button.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with SmartThings to unleash new levels of convenience and accessibility in home entertainment. As home owners in Singapore increasingly seek smart homes, our
offering will be right up their alley, instantly transforming their TV experience into a seamless, enlivening one.”

Additionally, a new ‘Music Mode’ feature will be introduced in the app, enabling Philips Hue lights to react to music played on the TV, turning living rooms into vibrant concert spaces. This feature will be available for compatible Samsung TV models produced in 2022 and 2023 later this year.

“The integration of Philips Hue Sync TV app into the SmartThings ecosystem allows users to create immersive multi-device entertainment routines, enhancing their smart home experiences like never before,” said Mark Benson, Head of SmartThings US.

“This partnership underscores our commitment to delivering seamless and innovative solutions that enrich the lives of our users, making their smart home experiences more immersive and enjoyable.”

The Philips Hue Sync TV app will support Samsung’s Q60 series and higher QLED TVs from 2022 onwards.
