Trust Bank has introduced a new “Bento Box” home screen design to its Trust app aimed at enhancing user experience. This new design replaces the previous horizontal scroll feature with a modular, easy-to-navigate interface that aligns with the needs of a diverse customer base, including the elderly and those with limited dexterity.
The Trust App, which has gained popularity as the top-rated finance app in the Singapore Apple App Store, was developed in response to customer feedback highlighting the complexity of existing banking apps. Customers expressed a need for a simpler, more accessible interface where key information such as account balances could be easily viewed upon login.
Addressing these concerns, the Trust team undertook extensive user research, including co-creation workshops, one-on-one interviews, and usability tests to iterate their design. This process was part of their commitment to their core value of continuous improvement for significantly better outcomes.
“Understanding how our customers use our App is key to helping us create an even better experience. It’s a privilege to work so closely with our community to develop the App, and we hope this refreshed home screen will make their experience faster, easier and even more seamless.”
Naveen Sethia, Head of Design at Trust
The newly adopted “Bento Box” layout features neatly organized modules that allow users to quickly tap into different sections like loans, insurance products, and promotions. This design not only eliminates the challenge of horizontal scrolling but also enhances security and privacy, with a focus on reducing font size on the landing page to prevent unauthorized viewing of sensitive information.
Moreover, the app incorporates unexpected elements of delight, such as special promotions and personalized greetings for occasions like birthdays, enhancing the overall user experience.
