South by Southwest Sydney 2023 (SXSW Sydney) has revealed the first Session Select programming for its upcoming futurist conference in October. The selection was made from over 1,400 submissions from the global creative community and over 100,000 votes from the public. The inaugural Session Select programme features local and global talent exploring the near and distant future, and answering tomorrow’s issues today. The sessions will rewire thinking, redirect sustainability policy and change the way you work. Topics include AI, robotics, future of work, tackling climate change, new approaches to creativity, and future of marketing.

SXSW Sydney Managing Director, Colin Daniels, said that the conference has received an “unbelievable number of incredible sessions,” which has made shortlisting them down to 300 for the conference challenging. However, he also sees it as a “great problem to have.” Daniels continued, “The sessions presented today are just a taste of some of the incredible conversations at SXSW Sydney that will shape our future.”

The conference will run from Sunday, October 15 to Sunday, October 22, 2023, and will be the first city outside of Texas to become a hub for future-gazing. SXSW Sydney will bring together the Asia-Pacific’s pre-eminent creative industries across content pillars of Tech and Innovation, Gaming, Music, Screen and Culture within a stacked week-long program.

To access SXSW Sydney 2023, a badge is required. SXSW Sydney 2023 Platinum and Industry badges are now available for purchase.

The sessions that will be showcased at the conference include:

  • It’s 2050 and The Robots are Among Us
  • Thriving in the Future (of Work)
  • The Full Stack Human
  • Finding work life balance: Can we achieve the ultimate goal?
  • What can we learn from the skies of alien planets? Astrophysicists tell all
