Google launches new affordable Pixel 7a smartphone with upgraded camera and AI-powered features

Google has unveiled its latest Pixel smartphone, the Pixel 7a, which offers all the helpful features of Google for less. The new phone is equipped with Google Tensor G2, the company’s flagship processor, and Titan M2, its dedicated security chip, making it faster, more efficient, and more secure. The Pixel 7a is priced starting at $499, making it more affordable than other high-end smartphones on the market.

One of the standout features of the Pixel 7a is its camera system, which has been completely upgraded to bring amazing camera features to more people. The phone’s main camera features a 72% larger sensor than its predecessor, the Pixel 6a, allowing for 44% more light. Plus, it has an all-new 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, so you can capture more in your shots. And for the first time on an A-series, Pixel 7a has Long Exposure, which can add texture and energy when photographing things in motion like waterfalls.

The Pixel 7a also includes all of the AI-powered Pixel Call Assist features that make Pixel the best phone for phone calls. Direct My Call lets you see menu options and get to the right department quicker when calling businesses. Call Screen tells you who’s calling and why, so you know before picking up. Hold for Me waits on the line so you don’t have to and notifies you once the representative is available. Clear Calling enhances the caller’s voice and reduces background noise. Wait Times gives you an estimated time you’ll be on hold for when calling a business. Just note that some features may not be available in Singapore.

In addition, the phone includes all of the Pixel Speech features powered by Tensor G2, like Live Translate, Recorder Speaker Labels, Assistant Voice Typing, and Voice Messaging Transcription on the Messages app.

The Pixel 7a has the same familiar design as Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, with its iconic Pixel camera bar and smooth, sculpted surfaces. Featuring an all-new midframe architecture, Pixel 7a is Google’s most durable A-series yet. And to support its continued commitment to sustainability, the aluminum housing is made with 100% recycled content.

The Pixel 7a is available in four colors: Charcoal, Snow, Sea, and Coral. Google is even launching Pixel Buds A-Series in a new color, Sea. It is retailing for S$749 and if you intend to make purchase within this May, there’s some ongoing promotions so do check them out here!
