Get the M1 Prepaid Tourist eSIM card when you travel to Singapore

M1 rolls out a prepaid eSIM card for tourists

The next time you arrive in Singapore, you can purchase the M1 Prepaid Tourist eSIM card so that you don’t need to switch yours with the local one.

What this means is that you do not have to remove your overseas SIM card to make way for a local SIM during your stay.

As the name suggests, eSIM is a digital copy of the physical SIM card we normally use. The eSIM feature is only available on most of Apple’s devices. They are iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, 11-inch iPad Pro and the 3rd generation iPad 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

M1 currently offers three types of Tourism SIM plans, which starts from S$12 to S$50, depending on the duration of your stay. Each card will come with 100GB of local data. Roaming data of 3GB and 5GB are also available if you purchase the Tourism SIM meant for more than 12 days of stay in Singapore.

Before you activate the eSIM, you need to make sure that your device is running iOS 12.1.1 or later.

How to activate:

  • Head over to your Settings;
  • Select Mobile Data;
  • Add Data Plan;
  • Scan the QR code that comes along with the eSIM, and
  • Press Data Plan and you are all set.

Ms Wang Li-Na, Director of Marketing, M1 said:

“Visitor arrivals to Singapore hit a record high of 18.5 million last year and this is an important segment we serve through our prepaid cards. The eSIM enables us to give tourists an easy way to buy our prepaid service without having to handle a physical SIM. We are incredibly excited that the M1 Prepaid Tourist eSIM card is the first in Singapore, an even simpler option that gives tourists a better experience when they use prepaid to stay connected on mobile.”

Where to purchase

The M1 Prepaid Tourist eSIM can be purchased at any Meet & Greet counters, selected Changi Recommends counters, Cheers (at Changi Airport) or all M1 Shops.

M1 Limited is the first and only operator to support eSIM plans on iPhones in Singapore. The use of eSIM offers the benefit of having multiple cellular plans for personal, business and roaming use in a single device.
