Drones have picked up popularity over the last two years and thanks to the recently super affordable DJI Sparks, more people are flying it more than ever. However, if you are thinking of flying one near the National Day Parade, don’t.

The Singapore Government has purchased a drone radar named Gamekeeper that could detect drones flying within five kilometres near the event venue.

According to an article by The Newpaper, the Gamekeeper can “detect, track and classify targets the size of small consumer drones” and can “pinpoint the general vicinity of the pilot and machine so authorities can take follow-up action.”

The authorities cited that this is part of their efforts to prevent terror attacks as there had been cases abroad where drones were used as one of the mediums to carry out terror acts.
