Capital.com has received a Capital Markets Services licence from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) for its local entity, Capital Com Securities (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. It is the first licence the group holds in Southeast Asia, with client onboarding due to open in early 2027.

Key Takeaways
  • Capital.com’s Singapore entity holds a MAS licence covering securities and OTC derivatives contracts.
  • It is the group’s first licensed business in Southeast Asia, with client onboarding due in early 2027.
  • Tony Lim, former CEO of IG Asia, will lead the entity from an office at 9 Battery Road.

MAS Licence Covers Securities and OTC Derivatives

The licence allows its Singapore entity to deal in capital markets products, including securities and over-the-counter (OTC) derivatives contracts. The group was founded in 2016 and is also licensed in the UK, the EU, the Middle East, Africa and Australia.

Valentina Rzheutskaya, Executive Director at Capital.com, said the MAS licensing process examines a firm’s governance, controls and capital. “Holding a licence here means operating to that standard locally,” she said.

Singpass Verification and Two-Factor Sign-In for Singapore Clients

Before onboarding opens, the Singapore team is preparing the platform and local services to meet regulatory and operational requirements. These include identity verification through Singpass MyInfo, full client verification before trading, and mandatory two-factor authentication at sign-in.

Singapore clients will get the same decision-support tools as the wider Capital.com platform. These include market insights and analysis, in-app explainers on how instruments and risk mechanisms work, charting tools, and risk controls such as stop-loss orders. Further details on the Singapore platform and local services will be shared ahead of launch.

Tony Lim, Former IG Asia Chief, to Lead Singapore Entity

Tony Lim joins as Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the Singapore entity. He has more than 30 years of experience in Singapore’s capital markets, with roles at the Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX), Singapore Exchange, DBS Vickers Securities and Saxo Capital Markets. Most recently he was Chief Executive Officer of IG Asia.

Lim said the focus over the coming months is “getting the foundations right”, covering onboarding, client protections, and the education and market insight that help people understand risk before they act.

Capital.com has opened an office at 9 Battery Road in Raffles Place, with local teams in compliance, operations, client services and marketing. It will also take part in the Singapore FinTech Festival from 18 to 20 November.
