Deel has launched Deel Security, an end-to-end workforce security platform that detects and prevents identity fraud throughout recruitment and employment, built on technology from Clarity, the AI security company Deel acquired in July 2026.

Key Takeaways
  • Research by Deel and Censuswide among 1,011 HR professionals in the UK and US found 66% of organisations saw a rise in suspicious or potentially fraudulent remote worker applications over the past year, and 93% are concerned about deepfake or AI-generated workers.
  • Deel Security analyses risk signals across resumes, digital footprints, interviews and identity documents, matching live selfies to government-issued IDs before an offer is made and continuing checks at key points after hire.
  • The launch follows FBI warnings this year that North Korean operatives have used stolen identities and AI-generated personas to get hired at companies, including inside a US federal agency.

Verification that doesn’t stop at the offer letter

Deel Security analyses risk signals across resumes, digital footprints, interviews and identity documents — flagging deepfake or proxy interviewers, matching live selfies to government-issued IDs before an offer is made, and continuing to verify identities after hiring at critical security checkpoints. It integrates with Deel’s applicant tracking system and other ATS platforms, and plugs into identity tools such as Okta, with an exportable audit trail for every verification. Each high-risk flag comes with an explainability report reviewed by a Deel fraud expert, with final decisions staying with the customer’s own hiring and security teams.

A rising share of HR teams say checks aren’t enough

Research conducted by Censuswide for Deel among 1,011 HR professionals in the UK and US found that 66% of organisations have seen an increase in suspicious or potentially fraudulent remote worker applications over the past 12 months, and 93% of HR leaders are concerned about deepfake or AI-generated workers; 34% say their current identity checks are no longer sufficient. IT, defence and crypto were the industries reporting the highest frequency of suspicious applicants, at 75%, 72% and 71% respectively.

“Fraud comes in layers, and it is changing fast. AI has made fake resumes, deepfakes, and stolen identities cheap to produce and hard to spot. The threat does not end at the offer, either. Most vendors verify identity at one point in the process. Deel Security protects every layer, from the first application through the full employee lifecycle,” said Alex Bouaziz, Co-founder and CEO at Deel.

The launch follows FBI and multi-country warnings in July 2026 that North Korean operatives have used stolen identities, forged documents and AI-generated personas to get hired through standard recruitment, including, the FBI confirmed in August, one operative working remotely inside a US federal agency.

Built on an acquired AI security company

Deel Security is built on technology from Clarity, the AI security company Deel acquired in July 2026, and has already been used across Deel’s own internal hiring pipeline. It is available from 29 October 2026.
