Apple has unveiled a new MacBook Pro with a tandem OLED display and touch input, the first time a Mac has had a touchscreen. The 14- and 16-inch models run on M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, start at S$3,999 in Singapore and arrive on Friday, 6 November.
Key Takeaways
- The new MacBook Pro is the first Mac with Touch, paired with a tandem OLED display rated up to 2,000 nits.
- Singapore pricing runs from S$3,999 (14-inch, M5 Pro) to S$6,499 (16-inch, M5 Max).
- Pre-orders open today in 30 countries and regions, including Singapore, with deliveries from 6 November.
MacBook Pro display and Touch

Apple calls the screen PROLED XDR. It reaches up to 2,000 nits peak brightness in both HDR and SDR, with a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio and a variable refresh rate of up to 120Hz. It covers the P3 and Adobe RGB colour spaces, and Apple says it exceeds 80 percent of Rec. 2020. A nano-texture option reduces glare.
The touch sensor is built into the display panel rather than layered on top. Apple says macOS translates touches into clicks, so many existing apps will work with Touch straight away. Apple names Notion, Canva and Adobe Lightroom among the third-party apps adding support, though Apple notes these will arrive later this year.
The Dynamic Island, familiar from the iPhone, also comes to the Mac as the home for Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI. Siri AI is in beta on macOS 27.2 and supports English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.
Johny Srouji, Apple’s chief hardware officer, called the new model “a monumental step forward for the Mac”.
M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, battery and design
Memory goes up to 128GB and storage up to 16TB. Apple says the M5 Max can run large language models with hundreds of billions of parameters entirely on the device, and that each GPU core now has its own Neural Accelerator for AI workloads.
The 14-inch model weighs 3 pounds (about 1.4kg), half a pound less than before. The 16-inch weighs 4 pounds (about 1.8kg), 0.7 pounds lighter. Apple quotes battery life of up to 24 hours and says the laptop charges to 50 percent in 30 minutes. Ports include three Thunderbolt 5, HDMI, an SDXC card slot, MagSafe and a headphone jack.
