OCBC has become the first bank in Singapore to let customers earn travel rewards and redeem vouchers when making overseas QR payments, rolling out Alipay+ Travel Treat on the OCBC app from 28 October 2026.

Key Takeaways
  • OCBC is the first bank in Singapore to offer in-app travel rewards for overseas Alipay+ QR payments.
  • The new Travel Treat hub gives OCBC app users deals with more than 200 merchants across seven destinations.
  • The number of OCBC customers making overseas Alipay+ QR payments has more than doubled year-to-date in 2026.

A travel rewards hub built into the banking app

The launch builds on OCBC’s partnership with Alipay+, Ant International‘s unified wallet gateway, which has covered cross-border payments since 2024. Alipay+ Travel Treat extends that tie-up into travel perks, letting customers discover, claim and redeem overseas dining, shopping and travel offers directly through the OCBC app, rather than downloading a separate loyalty app before a trip.

Vouchers can be claimed ahead of a trip and are applied automatically when customers pay by QR code at participating Alipay+ merchants.

Seven destinations, more than 200 merchants

In its initial phase, the hub covers more than 200 merchant deals across mainland China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and Thailand, including Shake Shack, Matsuya Food, Don Quijote, The Shilla Duty-Free, 7-Eleven, and Kuala Lumpur’s Suria KLCC and TRX Mall.

The OCBC app already supports QR payments to merchants in more than 55 destinations. In the first eight months of 2026, the number of customers using the app to scan and pay Alipay+ merchants overseas, and the value of their transactions, more than doubled compared with the same period in 2025, driven largely by spending in mainland China, Japan and South Korea.

“Customers value convenience as much as savings when they travel. By bringing Alipay+ Travel Treat into the OCBC app, we are making it easier for customers to discover and enjoy those benefits through an app they already use and trust, and offering them a more seamless and rewarding experience wherever they go,” said Ms Regina Lim, Head of Group Card Payments and Personal Loans at OCBC.

Towards a travel “super app”

OCBC said the Alipay+ Super App Platform underpinning Travel Treat also lays the groundwork for future services such as ride-hailing and food delivery to be embedded within its app, following the “super-app” model already common among travellers to China.

“Our partnership with OCBC is a great example of how banks can create new digital touchpoints and extend the value of their mobile apps, while giving customers more reasons to engage with their bank beyond everyday transactions,” said Mr Edward Yue, General Manager of Alipay+ Power Center at Ant International.
