myFirst Launches Voice-Powered AI Sticker Printer for Kids

Singapore kids’ technology brand myFirst has launched Insta magiBox, an AI sticker printer that turns a child’s spoken description into a printable black-and-white illustration, on the local market from 14 October.

The device uses a feature called Voice-to-Image. A child might say “an octopus wearing a sailor’s hat”, and magiBox generates the artwork, shows it on its 2.8-inch screen and prints it automatically. Children can then colour the sticker, add details or write their own words on it.

Voice-to-Story and 26-language support

A second feature, Voice-to-Story, turns a spoken idea into an illustrated story across four scenes. Voice recognition covers 26 languages and language varieties, including English, Mandarin, Malay, Hindi, Korean, Japanese, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese and Filipino. Children can describe their ideas without first translating them into English.

“AI can provide a starting point, but we want children to decide what happens next,” said G-Jay Yong, founder and chief executive of myFirst. “A printed picture gives them something they can change, colour and make their own.”

Child safety filters for AI-generated images

The printer runs on a combination of AI models, including Gemini and models from OpenAI. The myFirst team also built safety filters aimed at children, which check each prompt before any content is generated. If a request fails the check, magiBox blocks the image and displays “Oops! Try another idea”.

“We designed Insta magiBox to give children room to explore, create and express themselves, while setting clear boundaries around what it can do and how it responds to inappropriate requests,” Mr Yong said.

Features, pricing and availability in Singapore

  • Printing: Stickers print in about 30 seconds, and a full charge supports up to 120 Voice-to-Image prints.
  • Art styles: Six built-in filters change the look of each image.
  • App connectivity: Once set up through the myFirst Circle app, the device generates images and stories over Wi-Fi without a connected phone. Parents can use the app to view, save and reprint their child’s artwork.
  • Sticker rolls: Official rolls are free of BPA and BPS, and each prints roughly 50 images.

Insta magiBox costs S$119 and is sold through the myFirst Official Store, Popular Bookstores and Takashimaya. It comes in Aqua Blue and Blossom Pink. Each pack includes three thermal sticker rolls, two quick-peel sticker rolls, two interchangeable silicone covers and a set of eight colour marker pens. Refill packs of three thermal rolls cost S$14.90.

Founded in 2017, myFirst makes smartwatches, cameras, audio devices and 3D pens across nearly 10 product categories, and operates in more than 36 countries.
