ST Engineering to Open Autonomous Systems Transparency Centre

ST Engineering plans to open a Transparency Centre in Singapore in the first quarter of 2027 to provide independent assurance for autonomous platforms before they are deployed. The company announced the plan on 13 October.

The centre targets AI-powered robots, autonomous vehicles and drones moving from testing into business-critical operations, where their safety, security and operational resilience need to be verified.

Independent assurance for autonomous platforms

The centre will assess autonomous platforms and cyber-physical systems, including vehicles, drones and mobile robots, and offer cybersecurity validation and targeted hardening. It draws on ST Engineering’s experience securing critical information infrastructure across IT, operational technology and cloud environments, as well as its robotics and autonomous technology capabilities.

Goh Eng Choon, President of Cyber at ST Engineering, said that “as AI becomes embedded in critical systems, trust can no longer be assumed”. It must be engineered, tested and assured, he said.

How the assessments work

Assessments are aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and aim to uncover vulnerabilities, security weaknesses and software supply chain risks. Using binary analysis, the centre can examine software binaries and firmware without access to proprietary source code.

It can also help customers fix what it finds, including stronger hardware roots of trust for systems handling sensitive data and better encryption across storage and communications.

ST Engineering is showcasing the centre’s assurance services, AI-enabled cybersecurity services and quantum security innovations at GovWare 2026 from 13 to 15 October.
