Singapore travellers are not cutting back for 2027. Skyscanner‘s Travel Trends 2027 report found that 89% of Singaporeans plan to travel as much, if not more, in 2027. The travel app published the report on 8 October 2026. It did not say how many people were surveyed or give a methodology.
Spending is more deliberate, though. The report says travellers are weighing cost carefully, with 36% naming low cost as a priority, and 32% are putting more of their budget into travel insurance.
Travel trends shaping 2027 for Singaporeans
Skyscanner highlights seven trends. The ones with the clearest numbers:
- Signal Severance: 80% say they can disconnect to some extent on holiday. Searches for Yining in China rose 193% year on year, and for Kilimanjaro in Tanzania 84%.
- Pilgra-merch: 56% have taken a trip for items they could not buy online.
- Currency Chasers: 44% have switched destinations for better exchange rates, including 55% of Gen Z and 49% of millennials.
- Multi-Mooning: 31% choose several mini-moons over one honeymoon, rising to 45% of Gen Z. Searches for Udaipur in India rose 119% and Qingdao in China 105%.
Rising and best-value destinations
Belitung in Indonesia is the fastest-rising destination for 2027, with searches up 388% year on year. Chicago ranks first for value, after economy return airfares fell 47% year on year.
AI trip planning versus social media
Some 65% of Singaporeans already use AI tools for travel, mostly for destination research and itinerary building, each at 50%. Even so, social media remains the main source of ideas: YouTube at 58%, Instagram at 48% and TikTok at 39%, against 19% for AI chatbots and tools.
Brendan Walsh, Skyscanner’s travel trends and destination expert, advised using AI tools to take on manual trip planning, and keeping an eye on currency movements. Skyscanner CEO Bryan Batista said geopolitical instability is making travellers more conscious of risk, which raises the value of trusted information, flexibility and transparency.
