MagPro Unveils Water-Free Cooling for AI Data Centres

As Singapore’s data centres multiply to keep pace with AI demand, the amount of water they draw for cooling has become a sticking point for regulators and operators alike. MagPro, a joint venture between CIGU Technology Corp and EPG Data Technology, has launched a cooling platform it says removes that dependency altogether.

The AeroLev 1850, unveiled at Data Centre World Asia 2026 in Singapore, is a 1.85 MW-class air-cooled chiller built around magnetic-levitation compressor technology rather than the oil-lubricated compressors and evaporative cooling towers most data centres rely on today. MagPro says the platform can supply chilled water at temperatures of up to 45°C, high enough to support direct-to-chip and immersion liquid cooling without requiring operators to rebuild their existing infrastructure.

Built for high-ambient, water-constrained sites

At the centre of the system is an air-cooled magnetic-levitation compressor that MagPro rates at up to 87% isentropic efficiency, paired with a condenser the company says delivers more than 3°C of subcooling. Combined with standard EC fans, MagPro claims the platform achieves up to 40% higher overall energy efficiency and up to 8% lower failure rates than conventional oil-lubricated compressors, along with up to 10% lower maintenance costs compared with conventional chillers.

Because it does not rely on evaporative cooling water, the AeroLev 1850 is aimed squarely at data centres in arid or water-stressed markets, where access to water has become as much a constraint on growth as power supply. Its free-cooling mode draws on ambient air during cooler periods to cut compressor runtime and operating costs, and its modular design is intended to let operators expand capacity without a full infrastructure overhaul.

Part of a broader shift

“As water constraints become a defining consideration for data-centre development, AeroLev 1850 advances a resilient model for AI data-centre cooling,” said William Wu, General Manager of Nanjing CIPU Technology. “It enables efficient, reliable compute growth in challenging environments while turning today’s infrastructure into long-term resilience.”

Alick Wan, Founder and Chairman of EPG Data Technology, said the launch reflects the two companies’ combined push into cooling technology. “By EPG’s engineering and delivery expertise with CIGU’s core magnetic-levitation technology, we are building resilient, resource-efficient digital infrastructure less dependent on water,” he said.
