Rubrik, the Security and AI Operations Company, has launched Rubrik MCP (Model Context Protocol), giving an organisation’s AI agents a secure, programmable path to Rubrik’s data, identity and application intelligence. The company says Rubrik AI, the assistant that MCP now extends, is already used by a third of its global customers.
Rubrik MCP exposes the Rubrik Security Cloud API schema directly, giving connected agents instant access to any available capability. Teams can save their own multi-step recovery or compliance workflows as reusable, deterministic tools that work across any AI client.

Guardrails built around the access
Rubrik says security stays intact through role-based access control parity, configurable permissions, and guardrails aligned to the OWASP MCP Top 10. Rubrik AI operates as an autonomous execution engine across data, identity and applications, with its agent architecture engineered in collaboration with Anthropic’s teams to reduce response latency and improve multi-step reasoning.
One customer already using Rubrik AI described the shift in day-to-day incident triage.
“Rubrik AI has honestly made my life so much easier. Mornings used to be a drag, spent hunting through pages of failure logs to figure out what went wrong overnight. Now, I just open Rubrik and get an instant, clear summary that explains exactly why a backup failed and how to fix it,” said Mpho Mongalo, Senior Backup Specialist at Datacentrix.
Rubrik MCP builds on the company’s earlier move to make Rubrik available as an AI agent in its own right. It is currently in private preview for existing Rubrik customers, with general availability targeted for October 2026.
