Kyndryl has renewed its long-running partnership with Thai lender Krungsri, signing a five-year agreement to modernise the bank’s core banking technology using automation and agentic AI.
The deal builds on a relationship that already covers network modernisation, cloud adoption and workplace transformation. It now expands into infrastructure and mainframe services, plus AI-enabled operations across Krungsri’s data centre environment, including infrastructure supporting more than 4,800 ATMs.
AI-enabled operations across the bank
Under the agreement, Kyndryl will apply its Agentic AI Framework to orchestrate AI-enabled workflows across Krungsri’s technology environment, covering application and infrastructure analysis, operational automation and targeted modernisation work. Kyndryl says this is designed to cut manual effort and improve efficiency while keeping human oversight over AI-enabled workflows.
The bank will also draw on Kyndryl’s Mainframe-as-a-Service model for flexible capacity and support as it works through the transformation.
“To keep pace, we need IT infrastructure that is resilient, flexible, and scalable,” said Kenichi Yamato, President and Chief Executive Officer of Krungsri. “That is where our partnership with Kyndryl comes in.”
A five-year commitment
Krungsri, Thailand’s fifth-largest financial group and a member of Japan’s Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, has worked with Kyndryl for several years already. Kittipong Asawapichayon, Managing Director of Kyndryl Thailand, said the expanded scope reflects the bank’s growing technology ambitions and Kyndryl’s mainframe expertise and agentic AI capabilities.
Kyndryl operates in more than 60 countries and describes itself as the world’s largest IT infrastructure services provider.
