Tenable is collaborating with OpenAI to build the CyberAgents Exchange AI Inspector, a new security review process for AI agents, skills, MCP servers and multi-agent playbooks distributed through Tenable’s CyberAgents Exchange.
Unveiled on 8 September 2026 at OpenAI’s Intelligence at Work: Cyber Summit, Exchange Inspector combines frontier assessment using OpenAI’s GPT cyber models, skills inspection powered by Tenable One AI Exposure, and expert review from Tenable researchers. The capability is intended to help security teams safely accelerate enterprise adoption of agentic AI, and is expected to be available in September.
Vetting a Fast-Growing AI Agent Ecosystem
The CyberAgents Exchange, an open-source, cybersecurity-native registry for AI agents and related components, launched in August 2026 and now includes more than 100 community-submitted components following a build event Tenable hosted at Black Hat USA. The Exchange Inspector collaboration grew out of Tenable’s participation in the OpenAI Daybreak Defense Network.
Frontier Reasoning Applied to Defensive Security
The summit convened cybersecurity leaders to discuss how frontier AI can help defenders move faster and turn threat findings into actionable fixes at enterprise scale, with OpenAI highlighting defensive security applications built with several cybersecurity partners.
“Agentic AI will only reach its potential in the enterprise if security teams can trust the components being introduced into their environments,”
said Eric Doerr, Chief Product Officer, Tenable
Doerr said combining OpenAI’s GPT cyber models with Tenable’s security expertise and researcher review is intended to build a more rigorous way to inspect community-built AI components before enterprises put them into production.
