Trust Launches AI Tool for Card Spend Queries

Trust Bank has launched Trust AI Ask, a market-first AI-powered capability that lets customers find, check and understand their card transactions by asking questions in everyday language, rather than scrolling through transaction histories or applying filters.

Announced on 8 September 2026, the tool lets customers ask questions such as “how much did I spend on groceries last month?” or “show me all my taxi and transport spend” and receive instant answers. Trust AI Ask recognises merchants, categories, dates and amounts within a single query, and can automatically calculate totals, counts and spending summaries.

Moving Beyond Menus and Filters

Banking apps have traditionally relied on transaction lists, menus and filters that require customers to remember dates or merchant names. Trust said it built AI Ask to make this simpler, as customers increasingly expect digital banking experiences to be fast, intuitive and conversational. The bank said the feature was designed with security and privacy safeguards to protect personal information and filter sensitive data when processing queries.

  • The first phase focuses on card spends, the most common reason customers use the Trust App
  • Trust said the launch builds on its GenAI-powered chatbot, which has helped cut customer service query volumes by half
  • The bank plans to expand AI Ask across more areas of banking over time

Part of a Broader Conversational Banking Push

Trust said the launch is intended to help customers verify payments, locate transactions and check spending in seconds instead of searching manually, which it expects will improve customer experience and reduce routine transaction-related enquiries.

“For too long, banking apps have expected customers to adapt to how the bank organises information. We believe it should be the other way around,”

said Naveen Sethia, Chief Customer Officer, Trust Bank

Sethia added that the bank sees significant opportunities to expand the capability across more areas of banking, helping customers better understand their finances and interact with the bank in a more personalised way.
