Boomi has announced platform innovations designed to address governance barriers to enterprise AI adoption, as Southeast Asian governments move to formalise rules for autonomous AI agents.

At the centre of the update is Boomi’s Agent Control Plane, AI-native infrastructure that connects AI agents to core business systems, provides governance over agent activity, and controls token and compute costs. The infrastructure can run across public cloud, a customer’s own cloud, or on-premises, supporting data sovereignty requirements.

Regional governance rules raise the stakes

The launch comes as Singapore has introduced what it describes as the world’s first governance framework specifically for agentic AI, while Malaysia has issued its National Guidelines on Artificial Intelligence Governance and Ethics. Boomi said enterprises across the region face growing pressure to ensure autonomous systems operate without compromising data, security or accountability.

Gartner has forecast that by 2027, 40% of enterprises will demote or decommission autonomous AI agents due to governance gaps identified only after production incidents occur. Separately, a Forrester Consulting study commissioned by Boomi found that while 86% of leaders said their organisations had moved beyond AI agent pilots, only 34% said they trusted the actions their agentic systems take.

Vendor-neutral approach to agent governance

The Agent Control Plane operates as a vendor- and model-neutral control point between AI agents and the transactional systems they access, such as Salesforce, SAP, Oracle and Workday. It centralises visibility for agents and tools, applies identity and rate limits, curbs token overruns, and holds high-risk transactional actions for human approval.

The platform also introduces Boomi Connect, which exposes enterprise systems as governed tools that AI agents built on Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini can discover and call, giving businesses more than 1,000 pre-built connectors instead of custom integrations.
