Cloud banking platform Mambu has launched Intelligent Core, a technology architecture designed to bring core banking, payments and agentic AI together on a single composable platform.
The launch comes as a World Economic Forum report found that financial institutions gain more value by redesigning workflows and technology architecture together, rather than layering AI onto fragmented legacy systems.
Connecting AI agents to core banking
Intelligent Core combines Mambu Core, Mambu Payments and the newly introduced Mambu Agentic, which brings three capability layers to financial institutions: a Model Context Protocol (MCP) solution that connects AI agents to core banking and payments without complex integrations; AI Insights that surface opportunities, risks and anomalies from trusted operational data; and pre-built agents that automate workflows within defined guardrails, acting only where authorised and explaining their decisions.
“For 15 years, Mambu has freed hundreds of global financial institutions from the constraints of monolithic legacy cores through composable banking,” said Fernando Zandona, Chief Executive Officer at Mambu. “That composable foundation now evolves to become intelligent.”
Zandona said Mambu Agentic brings this vision to life with AI agents that connect directly into the ledger, reason against strict guardrails, act where authorised, and explain every decision, while remaining fully configurable, auditable and scalable.
Moving AI beyond isolated pilots
Mambu said the architecture is designed to help institutions launch products faster, automate high-volume operational work and deliver personalised services at scale, with intelligence that compounds across the stack as the business grows.
More than 260 customers in over 65 countries currently use Mambu’s platform, including Western Union, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, N26, BancoEstado, Raiffeisen Bank, ABN AMRO and Bank Islam.
