Samsung Electronics Singapore will host its first Galaxy Walkathon on 13 September at The Kallang, a community wellness event tied to the country’s 61st birthday celebrations and its wider Samsung Health ecosystem.
Registration for the free event is open until 4 September via Samsung’s event page. Participants will complete a 5km route around The Kallang precinct, equivalent to roughly 6,100 steps for most walkers, a figure chosen as a nod to SG61.
Wearables and wellness take centre stage
Those who take part will receive an event T-shirt and other goodies, with a chance to win Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 smartwatches. The walkathon builds on Samsung’s ongoing Samsung Health Step Up Challenge: SG61 Edition, part of a broader push to position its wearables and health-tracking software as everyday fitness tools.
“We strongly believe that technology can make a real difference in our everyday lives. The inaugural Galaxy Walkathon hopes to encourage Singaporeans to take a first step to everyday wellness goals, while supporting a worthy cause in raising heart health awareness,” said Jeffrey Hahn, President, Samsung Electronics Singapore.
Event supports Singapore Heart Foundation
The walkathon is held in support of the Singapore Heart Foundation, with Samsung making a donation to fund the charity’s heart health programmes; participants may also contribute directly. The Kallang Group, Singtel and SPH Media are supporting partners.
The Galaxy Walkathon takes place on 13 September from 7am, with details and registration available on Samsung’s event page.
