Razer and the National University of Singapore’s School of Computing (NUS Computing) have launched the Razer-NUS Joint AI Research Lab, a research initiative focused on advancing artificial intelligence across gaming hardware, software and services.
Announced on 6 August 2026, the lab is described as a first-of-its-kind partnership dedicated to foundational AI research for gaming intelligence, building on Razer’s existing investments in digital humans and ambient intelligence.
Digital companions and wearable AI
The new lab will support Razer’s broader AI concepts, including Razer AVA, a digital human companion designed to deliver personalised interactions through personality, memory and contextual awareness, and Project Motoko, a wearable AI headset bringing multimodal generative AI into an everyday form factor.
AI in gaming market set to grow sharply
Razer cited industry projections that the global AI in gaming market will grow from US$4.2 billion in 2025 to US$66.8 billion by 2035, a 32 per cent compound annual growth rate. A separate survey found 79 per cent of gamers are receptive to at least one AI-enabled feature that would improve their gaming experience.
The partnership adds to Razer’s existing AI Centres of Excellence in Singapore and France, which together bring close to 100 AI researchers, data scientists and engineers working on gaming and consumer AI applications.
Next phase of Razer’s AI strategy
Razer said the joint lab marks the next phase of its AI strategy, accelerating innovation in gaming, digital humans and ambient intelligence, while giving NUS Computing researchers a direct channel to apply foundational AI work to commercial gaming products.
