Tech Data, a TD SYNNEX company, has signed a new distribution agreement with Wasabi Technologies to bring the hot cloud storage provider’s portfolio to partners across Singapore and Malaysia, the companies announced on 6 August 2026.
The partnership targets rising regional demand for predictable, cost-efficient cloud storage as artificial intelligence and data-heavy workloads grow. Tech Data cited industry figures showing 53 per cent of organisations in Singapore expect their cloud storage needs to double by 2028.
Addressing AI-driven storage and ransomware pressure
Wasabi provides an S3-compatible object storage platform for AI, analytics and cloud-native workloads. Under the agreement, Tech Data will distribute Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage, Wasabi Cloud NAS for file-based workflows, and Wasabi Surveillance Cloud, alongside integrations with backup providers including Veeam, Commvault and Rubrik.
“Wasabi is a strong addition to Tech Data’s cloud and data management portfolio, addressing fast-growing demand in Singapore and Malaysia for cost-efficient storage, backup and cyber-resilience solutions,” said Mark Tan, Vice President, Tech Data Singapore & Tech Data Malaysia.
Tan said organisations face rapid data growth, accelerating cloud adoption, heightened ransomware and compliance concerns, and pressure to optimise IT spend, and that Wasabi offers partners a cloud-first alternative to unpredictable hyperscaler storage costs.
Built-in ransomware protection
Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage includes object lock, immutability and versioning features designed to strengthen data protection and ransomware resilience, with a pricing model intended to help customers manage storage costs without vendor lock-in.
“Singapore and Malaysia are important growth markets for Wasabi as organisations look for a smarter alternative to complex and unpredictable cloud storage models,” said Raymond Koh, ASEAN Country Manager, Wasabi Technologies.
Partners will gain access to Wasabi’s portfolio backed by Tech Data’s Center of Excellence, partner enablement resources, cloud marketplace capabilities, financing options, and local billing and support.
