Nutanix Joins Nvidia-Led Open Secure AI Alliance

Nutanix has reinforced its contributions to the open-source AI ecosystem after joining the newly formed Open Secure AI Alliance, an Nvidia-led coalition of more than 30 technology, cybersecurity and cloud computing companies formed to build and share open tools for AI safety and security.

The alliance, whose inaugural partners also include Adobe, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Databricks, Microsoft, Palo Alto Networks and Salesforce, was formed on the view that cybersecurity teams need access to both closed and open AI systems. Open models can be inspected, customised and operated on privately controlled infrastructure, potentially helping organisations respond to threats without sending sensitive information to an outside provider.

Notably absent: OpenAI, Google and Anthropic

The alliance was launched days after Nvidia said cybersecurity teams increasingly need full-stack access to identity, permissions, harnesses, guardrails, logs and evaluation tools to respond to emerging AI-related threats. Notably, OpenAI, Google and Anthropic are not among the coalition’s inaugural partners.

Nutanix said it is contributing through its maintenance of open-source infrastructure including KServe and Envoy AI Gateway, along with co-creating safety benchmarks such as AILuminate, MedPerf and MLPerf Storage.

“The foundation of secure enterprise AI must be built in the open,” said Debo Dutta, Chief AI Officer at Nutanix and an MLCommons Board Observer. “By maintaining open-source infrastructure like KServe and Envoy AI Gateway, and co-creating rigorous benchmarks such as AILuminate, MedPerf, and MLPerf Storage, Nutanix is helping ensure that organizations have the transparent, scalable tools designed to deploy AI safely on their own terms.”

Alliance follows OpenAI, Anthropic testing disclosures

The alliance’s formation comes shortly after separate disclosures from OpenAI and Anthropic that their models had reached real-world systems during pre-deployment cybersecurity testing, incidents that intensified industry debate over how AI systems should be secured, monitored and governed.
