LG Electronics has reported consolidated revenue of USD $15.80 billion and operating profit of USD $1.05 billion for the second quarter of 2026, both the highest second-quarter figures in the company’s history. Revenue rose 14.9% year-on-year, while operating profit surged 147%, driven by stronger sales of premium products, improved cost competitiveness and a one-time gain from tariff refunds on prior US export duties.
AI data centre cooling among new growth areas
Alongside its core appliance, entertainment and vehicle solutions businesses, LG pointed to accelerated growth in robotics and AI data centre (AIDC) cooling solutions as emerging contributors. The company’s in-house Coolant Distribution Unit is positioned to enter the global AIDC supply chain, and its HVAC business will continue investing in cooling technology for AI infrastructure. The subscription business, covering ongoing product and service revenue, grew 5% year-on-year to USD $437.72 million as it continued its international expansion.
Second-quarter B2B revenue reached USD $4.31 billion, up 5% year-on-year and accounting for 36% of total company revenue, excluding LG Innotek.
Results by business unit
- Home Appliance Solution: Revenue of USD $4.70 billion and operating profit of USD $454.97 million, with quarterly revenue surpassing USD $4.64 billion for the first time and operating margin approaching 10% for a second consecutive quarter.
- Media Entertainment Solution: Revenue of USD $3.39 billion and operating profit of USD $145.17 million, supported by steady OLED and QNED TV sales and growth in the webOS platform business.
- Vehicle Solution: Revenue of USD $2.01 billion and operating profit of USD $126.68 million, both second-quarter highs, with operating margin exceeding 6% for a second straight quarter.
- Eco Solution: Revenue of USD $1.81 billion and operating profit of USD $156.38 million, with an 8.6% operating margin on expanded overseas air conditioner sales.
LG said it expects a short-term demand slowdown in the home appliance business in the third quarter, and plans to focus on Global South markets while beginning full-scale operations of its robot actuator business. USD figures were converted from Korean won at an average rate of KRW 1,507.8 per USD for the quarter.
