OCBC’s Agentic AI Cuts Wealth Onboarding to 15 Days

OCBC is using agentic AI to speed up onboarding of wealthy clients, deploying a platform called HELIOS that compresses private banking account opening to 15 business days, roughly half the industry median of about six weeks.

HELIOS, short for Holistic wEalth Lifecycle Insights & Ongoing Surveillance, automates the collection, verification and assessment of Know-Your-Customer (KYC) data before a relationship manager (RM) ever engages a prospective client. The rollout falls under OCBC’s Next Frontier strategy, with relationship managers at Bank of Singapore, OCBC’s private banking arm, already using the platform across Singapore, Hong Kong and Dubai, with full roll-out targeted for the third quarter of 2026.

Ms Loretta Yuen (阮玲OCBC’s Head of Group Legal and Compliance (集团法律与合规部总裁) and Mr Jason Moo (巫毅盛), CEO of Bank of Singapore (新加坡银行首席执行官),  at the media launch of agentic AI platform HELIOS on 29 July 2026.

Compliance becomes a lead generation channel

In what OCBC describes as a first for a bank in Southeast Asia, HELIOS also surfaces high-quality prospective client leads to RMs directly from the Compliance function, turning what was purely a risk function into an additional business development channel.

“We need to identify potential concerns earlier and assess financial crime risks more holistically. By combining agentic AI with the expertise of our compliance professionals, HELIOS enables us to screen prospective customers more thoroughly and earlier in the customer journey,” said Loretta Yuen, Head of Group Legal and Compliance, OCBC.

Jason Moo, CEO of Bank of Singapore, said it is rare for compliance partners to generate leads bankers can prospect with confidence, calling HELIOS a differentiator for both business growth and banker recruitment. Justin Ho, a Bank of Singapore Market Head already using the platform, said it provides an in-depth Source of Wealth report before onboarding even begins, cutting down the back-and-forth between RMs, compliance teams and customers.

Timed to regulatory pressure

The rollout lands as the Monetary Authority of Singapore works with the Private Banking Industry Group to bring account opening timelines down to within one month by end-2026. HELIOS will extend to the OCBC Premier Private Client consumer banking segment by year-end and, beyond onboarding, will support ongoing monitoring to flag changes in a customer’s risk profile over time.

The launch builds on an earlier agentic AI-powered Source of Wealth tool at Bank of Singapore, which cut average report preparation time from 10 days to about one hour. OCBC has said it expects to spend more than US$1 billion annually on AI, digital and data initiatives over the next three years.
