OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Work, a new agent within ChatGPT capable of completing multi-step tasks — from spreadsheets to slide decks to web apps — and continuing to work independently while users are away. The company describes it as the biggest change to ChatGPT since its original release.

ChatGPT Work is powered by GPT-5.6, OpenAI’s newest model family, which includes a flagship model called Sol alongside Terra, built for everyday work, and Luna, a cost-efficient option. It is available today on web and mobile for Pro, Enterprise and Edu users, with Plus and Business tiers rolling out over the following days.

Singapore usage signals

OpenAI said nearly half of ChatGPT messages sent from Singapore now focus on work-related tasks, and Singapore ranks among the top five global markets for engagement with Codex, its coding-oriented agent — with over a third of non-coding Codex requests coming from local users.

“ChatGPT Work brings the agentic capabilities that made Codex successful into ChatGPT, so more people — from employees to entrepreneurs — can use AI not just to get answers, but to get real work done,” said Kiran Mani, Managing Director APAC, OpenAI.

The launch positions OpenAI more directly against enterprise productivity incumbents as agentic AI tools move from novelty to daily workflow tooling across the region.
