Vertiv has opened a new manufacturing facility in Senai, Johor, expanding its regional footprint as demand for AI and high-density computing infrastructure accelerates across Asia.

The approximately 236,000 square foot facility will support customers across Southeast Asia, North Asia, Australia and New Zealand with regional manufacturing, engineering, logistics and deployment capabilities. Johor was selected for its industrial growth trajectory and proximity to key technology and customer hubs in the region.

Scaling for AI-driven demand

The plant handles end-to-end manufacturing, assembly and witness testing for thermal and power infrastructure, including Vertiv’s CoolChip coolant distribution units for liquid cooling, and its Power Module and Power Skid prefabricated power systems. Vertiv says the Power Module and Power Skid can cut power system deployment time by up to 50 percent compared with traditional builds, while its SmartRun overhead infrastructure system can shorten on-site deployment by up to 85 percent.

The facility is expected to create up to 500 skilled jobs once fully operational in 2027, and includes dedicated environments for flushing, validation and testing of liquid cooling and power systems under real-world conditions.

A regional infrastructure hub

Paul Churchill, vice president and general manager for Vertiv Asia, said the facility strengthens the company’s ability to respond to increasingly complex AI and high-density deployments across the region, citing Johor’s connectivity, growing technology ecosystem and local talent pool.

Tuan Haji Natazha Hariss, CEO of Invest Johor, said the investment reflects growing confidence in the state as a hub for digital infrastructure and advanced manufacturing, pointing to job creation and local talent development as long-term benefits.

The facility operates under Vertiv’s global quality management standards and complies with ISO requirements for manufacturing and testing.
