Xiaomi YU7 GT Completes Nürburgring Autonomously in World First

Xiaomi has completed a driverless lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, marking what the company says is the world’s first fully autonomous run of the full 20.8 km circuit. A Xiaomi YU7 GT fitted with the Track Package recorded a lap time of 10:29.483, certified under the Nürburgring’s official timing procedures.

73 corners, 300 metres of elevation, no human input

The Xiaomi YU7 GT autonomously navigated all 73 corners of the Nordschleife, managing approximately 300 metres of elevation change and continuously varying road surface conditions without any driver intervention. Following the achievement, the Nürburgring introduced a new official category — Autonomous Driving under Electric Vehicles — to recognise the run.

Widely regarded as one of the world’s most demanding automotive proving grounds, the Nordschleife combines high-speed sections, technical corner sequences, shifting grip levels and minimal margins for error. It has historically served as a benchmark for vehicle engineering and performance validation.

AI and vehicle dynamics at the core

Xiaomi’s autonomous driving system is built on an end-to-end architecture integrating a vehicle dynamics model that enables real-time perception of vehicle states and road conditions. Under high-speed, high-load conditions, the system continuously coordinates steering, braking and power delivery to maintain stability through dynamic prediction and control decisions.

“This achievement not only validates the comprehensive capabilities of Xiaomi’s autonomous driving system under extreme dynamic conditions, but also demonstrates the potential unlocked through the deep integration of artificial intelligence and advanced vehicle control technologies,” Xiaomi said in a statement.

Next-generation platform underpins the run

Since launching Xiaomi HAD in 2024, the company has continued advancing its autonomous driving stack. In March 2026, Xiaomi introduced a new vehicle platform powered by the XLA architecture and the MiMo-Embodied foundation model, which improves interpretation of complex environments, dynamic traffic participants and vehicle states. The system is designed to shift autonomous driving from behaviour imitation toward deeper environmental understanding and autonomous decision-making.

Xiaomi says the Nürburgring project will continue to generate data and system feedback under extreme conditions, supporting improvements in vehicle dynamics modelling, control strategy optimisation and safety redundancy mechanisms.
