HPE Debuts 64 TB Memory Server for SAP and Mission-Critical AI Workloads

HPE has announced the availability of the HPE Compute Scale-up Server 3250, a purpose-built in-memory database server that scales to 64 terabytes of DDR5 memory across up to 16 sockets — the first scale-up server validated by the SAP BW Edition HANA benchmark with at least 48 TB of memory.

Released on 12 May 2026, the server is designed for organisations running business-critical transactional and analytics workloads, including SAP HANA, enterprise resource planning systems, and financial services applications that demand zero-tolerance downtime and real-time performance.

Architecture built for scale and speed

Powered by Intel Xeon 6 processors, the HPE Compute Scale-up Server 3250 is modularly expandable from a minimum of four sockets to 16, supporting up to 64 TB of DDR5 memory. A dedicated external node controller delivers latency of approximately 100 nanoseconds — around 100 times faster than standard Ethernet connections used in scale-out deployments — enabling high-velocity transactions and real-time analytics without performance degradation.

The server succeeds the Intel-based HPE Scale-up Server 3200 and is the first in the scale-up line powered by Intel Xeon 6. HPE was recently named a leader in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide SAP HANA Certified Servers Appliances 2026 Vendor Assessment.

“HPE Compute Scale-up Server 3250 raises the bar for business-critical infrastructure. Designed for complex business applications like enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management systems, this system helps customers run faster transactions, gain insights in real time, and support analytics without slowing down business,” said Krista Satterthwaite, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Compute at HPE.

Security and availability by design

Built-in security spans from chip to cloud through HPE Integrated Lights Out (iLO), which establishes a silicon root of trust via a dedicated security processor and validated firmware. Post-quantum cryptography is included, along with advanced memory error detection and correction, memory healing and deconfiguration, and fault-tolerant uptime design for workloads where continuous availability is non-negotiable.

The HPE Compute Scale-up Server 3250 is available now. It can be acquired through HPE Financial Services’ 90/9 Advantage programme, which offers no payments for 90 days followed by an additional nine months at one per cent.
