AMD Simplifies Local AI Development With Adrenalin AI Bundle

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has introduced a new AI Bundle for its AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition, aiming to simplify how developers and creators set up local artificial intelligence environments on Windows.

The AMD Adrenalin AI Bundle, available as an optional feature during installation, allows users to install a pre-configured AI software stack with a single click. The move targets a long-standing pain point for developers, who often spend hours configuring drivers, Python environments and AI frameworks before they can begin building or testing models.

Addressing complexity in AI setup

Setting up a local AI development environment on Windows typically involves managing multiple dependencies, framework versions and hardware compatibility issues. According to AMD, this complexity has slowed experimentation and adoption, particularly among individual developers, students and creators.

With the new AI Bundle, users can select the option during installation of the AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition application, removing the need for manual configuration or dependency management.

What tools are included

The AI Bundle installs several commonly used AI development and generative tools, optimised for AMD hardware.

These include PyTorch on Windows, which AMD said is now available through the Adrenalin application for the first time. PyTorch can be used to train models or run inference locally.

The bundle also includes ComfyUI, a node-based interface for visual AI workflows, accelerated using AMD’s ROCm platform on Windows.

For large language model (LLM) workloads, the package supports Ollama, which enables users to run LLMs locally via code, command line or application interfaces, as well as LM Studio, which provides a graphical interface for installing and tuning models.

Also included is Amuse, a text-to-image generation application designed to run AMD-optimised models locally.

AMD said the tools collectively support image generation, text generation, prototyping and experimentation without requiring cloud-based AI services.

Target users and hardware requirements

The AI Bundle is aimed at creators working on generative media, developers building or testing AI models locally, and students or researchers seeking a predictable development environment.

According to AMD, the feature is supported on systems using AMD Radeon RX 7700 series graphics cards or newer, as well as AMD Ryzen AI 300, Ryzen AI 400 and Ryzen AI Max series processors.

Reducing reliance on cloud services

By enabling local AI workloads, AMD positions the bundle as a way to reduce reliance on paid cloud platforms. Running models locally can help users manage costs while maintaining control over their data and workflows.

AMD said users can begin working with AI tools within minutes after installation, without additional downloads or manual patching.

Developers looking to extend their work beyond local setups can also join the AMD AI Developer Program, which provides access to technical resources, updates and community support for both local and cloud-based AI development on AMD hardware.
