Electric vehicles (EV) dominate the Singapore Motorshow 2026 for the second year running, suggesting the industry’s alignment with the city-state’s vision of achieving 100% cleaner energy vehicles by 2040.
“With a total of 37 automotive brands, this will definitely be a treat for car enthusiasts and car buyers alike,” said Glenn Tan, president of the Motor Traders Association of Singapore (MTA).
“This year also marks a defining shift in the industry. We have over 200 vehicles on display with more than 80% electric and hybrid vehicles, giving a powerful sign that the road ahead is cleaner and greener than ever before.”
The EV line up features popular brands like BYD, MG, and XPENG, as well as models from the likes of Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. Those keen on hybrid vehicles can look forward to the range from BYD’s premium brands, Yangwang and Denza.
XPENG, for instance, revealed how they share Singapore’s vision to accelerate the industry’s progress.
“At the foundation level, our in-house developed Turing AI chips have entered mass production and are now deployed in our latest models,“ said Elsa Zhang, head of XPENG Asia Pacific.
“It is more than a vehicle-grid chip. It serves as a core computing infrastructure that allows AI models to run directly in the vehicle.”
This year’s Motorshow thus promises to showcase a diverse range of advanced mass-market electric models, premium hybrids, and performance EVs.
What’s more, several brands make their debut at this year’s event, including Hongqi, a Chinese luxury car brand. Launched together with Eurokars Group, the debut will mark the brand’s entry into the Singapore market. Hongqi will spotlight their flagship electric sport utility vehicle (SUV), the E-HS9.
It also showcases the ultra-luxury Guoli and Guoya models, reflecting the brand’s heritage of prestige and modern innovation.
Attendees can stand a chance to win exclusive E-HS9 model cars when they participate in an interactive launch activity involving placing Hongqi’s iconic red flags on a Singapore map installation.

Attendees can also try their luck to win this year’s grand prize of the all-electric Dongfeng Box. A compact and affordable all-electric hatchback, the Dongfeng Box features frameless doors, an automatic parking system, a 12.8-inch floating central control screen, and customizable ambient lighting.
The lucky draw will be held on 11 January, the final day of the event, with the winner announced on the Motorshow’s official Facebook, Instagram, and website on 21 January.
All prize vehicles include Singapore’s Additional Registration Fee (ARF) but exclude the Certificate of Entitlement (COE) and any other additional fees.
